Donna Boehme, Special Advisor
Donna Boehme, principal, Compliance Strategists, LLC, serves as Special Advisor to CSLG and its clients, providing strategic expertise and consultation on a broad range of corporate compliance issues and solutions, including development and implementation of compliance programs, board training and compliance assessments/audits. Ms. Boehme currently serves on the respective advisory boards of the LRN RAND Center of Corporate Ethics, Law and Governance, and of the Corporate Compliance Center - South Texas College of Law. Ms. Boehme has published numerous professional articles on compliance, ethics and corporate governance issues, and is a frequent speaker in the U.S., Europe and Asia to business and professional groups including the Association of Corporate Counsel, the Practicing Law Institute, the Conference Board, the Ethics and Compliance Officer Association, Ethics Resource Center, and the Institute of Business Ethics. Ms. Boehme has spoken at the UK House of Lords specifically on the topic of implementing effective corporate compliance programs within multinational corporations. Ms. Boehme has extensive on-the-ground experience in the field of corporate governance, compliance and ethics both within the US and internationally, having served as chief compliance officer for BP plc, the integrated oil company, and also BOC, the industrial gases company. She is a past member of the board of directors of the Ethics & Compliance Officer Association, the leading cross-industry group of corporate ethics and compliance practitioners in the world and of the Board of Directors of the Association of Corporate Counsel – Europe. Ms. Boehme was a founding member of the Compliance and Ethics Leadership Council of the Corporate Executive Board and numerous informal industry benchmarking groups.
As the first group compliance & ethics officer for BP plc, Boehme built and led a world class compliance and ethics function and program for all of its 100,000 employees in 100 countries, including a network of 135 senior level compliance and ethics leaders, 9 regional ombudsmen, and numerous other ethical champion networks. She developed and implemented the company's first global code of conduct in 2005. As VP & General Counsel, Global Compliance at BOC, Ms. Boehme also established the company’s global compliance office and developed its first worldwide compliance program, “Living Our Values”, including BOC’s first code of conduct.
Prior to specializing in compliance and ethics, Boehme was in private New York law firm practice in mergers and acquisitions, securities and finance. She earned her law degree from New York University and is a member of the New York bar.
